Used film developer and fixer are deemed corrosive hazardous waste by the EPA. Medical facilities are legally responsible for the proper disposal of those materials.
The best way you can ensure that all hazardous chemicals are removed and disposed of properly according to applicable standards is to have us take care of it for you. Collected fixer or photo waste
is taken to our processing station where silver salts are reduced to elemental silver in a controlled electroplation system. Discharge is then passed through enormous ion exchange columns to remove
remaining silver down to non-detectible levels and pH is then tested. Treated waste is then discharged properly according to EPA standards.
A Walsh Imaging is one of the few federally certified interstate hauling and disposal companies for x-ray equipment, film and chemistry. |
